Your Personal Information

Basic Requirements

To have a nikah conducted by the mosque, the following conditions must be met:

  1. Religious Compatibility. For example, the husband must be Muslim.

  2. Mutual Agreement: Both families must be informed of or agree to the nikah, except in the case of revert Muslims. The mosque does not perform secret or runaway marriages.

  3. Presence of Bride’s Guardian: The bride's guardian (wali) or attorney (wakil) must be present. The guardian is typically the bride’s father or closest male relative. In exceptional cases, such as with female reverts, the celebrant may act as the wali.

  4. Age Compliance: Both the bride and groom must be 18 years or older.

  5. Witnesses: Two adult Muslim males must serve as witnesses. Ideally, one witness from each side (bride and groom) is preferred, and they should not be immediate family members. Including the bride’s wali, a total of three witnesses will be present.

  6. Dowry: Both parties must agree on the dowry before the nikah.

  7. Documentation: Relevant documents may be requested to verify submitted information.

  8. Dress Code: All attendees are kindly requested to adhere to the Islamic dress code in accordance with the values observed within the mosque.

The celebrant holds the right to refuse to conduct the marriage if any of these conditions are not fulfilled.
